Vinicius Junior Rookie Card (And His Other Valuable Cards To Look Out For)

Vinicius Junior is one of the most promising youngsters in world soccer right now. He’s also establishing himself at one of the best and most well known soccer teams in the world, Real Madrid.

Real Madrid’s latest era of European soccer domination is over for now, with many of their star players, like Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos either having moved on to a new team or are coming to an end of their career.

So Madrid are now building a team for the next generation, and they want Vinicius Jr to be one of the star players to take over from the greats of the past.

The Brazilian international player is still very young but becoming a fan favorite at Madrid with impressive performances, full of flair and excitement – the winger has been compared in style to his fellow countrymen, Neymar.

Real Madrid brought Vinicius in 2018, when he was just 18 after a very good rookie year (2017) with Flamengo in Brazil – but it’s been this season (2021/22) that he’s made his big breakthrough and established himself as one of Madrid’s best players.

Soccer fans are excited about the potential Vinicius has shown to become one of the next big stars of the sport, and naturally soccer card collectors are also keeping a keen eye on his progress, with the potential for a huge demand and increase in his card prices should he realize that potential.

Here’s a list of the best and most valuable Vinicius Junior soccer cards to look out for:

What Is Vinicius Junior’s True Rookie Card?

2018/19 Panini Colecciones Este La Liga #15 Vinicius Junior

2018 Panini Colecciones Este La Liga #15 Vinicius Junior Soccer Sticker

Vinicius’ true rookie card is a little contentious, because he had a couple of different stickers ‘released’ during his rookie season in 2017 as part of the so called ‘2017 O Globo Brazil Promessas’ and ‘2017 Abril Campeonato Carioca SUB20 Promo’ sets. However, after some suspicion about the legitimacy of those stickers, investigations into it led most to suspect that these stickers were illegally produced and presented as authentic – therefore I don’t think they can be considered Vinicius’ true rookie card. PSA did a full investigation into these sets and published an article which can be read here.

So, Vinicius Junior’s true rookie is from the Panini Colecciones Este La Liga set which was issued during his first year at Real Madrid.

It’s a sticker which shows a young Vinicius in a Real Madrid jersey and another image of him juggling a ball – overall, a nice looking sticker.

The price of this one is still very reasonable, considering his potential and recent performances for one of the biggest teams in the world – which is partly due to modern cards and stickers being mass-produced. Stickers are harder to come by in good condition than cards are though, so if you can find one in good condition it’s worth picking up.

Other Vinicius Junior Cards To Look Out For

2018/19 Panini Donruss #177 Vinicius Junior

2018 Panini Donruss #177 Vinicius Junior Soccer Card

The 2018/19 Panini Donruss ‘Rated Rookie’ card is another that was issued by Panini during Vinicius Junior’s first season at Real Madrid, and it’s probably his most popular card among collectors right now.

The card has a few different variations, including different optic and press proof versions that are sought after. The design of the card shows Vinicius in action in a Real Madrid jersey, and I think overall it’s a very clean and nice card.

The card is still quite cheap. Some Optic and Press Proof versions are a little more, because they have less supply and are popular, but I think this card is a good bet long term.

2018/19 Panini Megacracks #369 Vinicius Junior

Another Panini card issued in 2018, the Megacracks Vinicius Junior is another that’s probably more well known and popular than his rookie sticker.

It has many similarities to the rookie sticker from the Colecciones Este La Liga, but I actually think it’s not as nice of a card. It shows Vinicius, again, in action with a ball for Real Madrid.

This one is another good buy for a long term hold, especially for collectors who prefer soccer cards over soccer stickers, if they’re looking for an alternative to his true rookie.

2019/20 Topps Chrome Uefa Champions League #33 Vinicius Junior

2019 Topps Chrome Uefa Champions League Vinicius Junior Soccer Card

Vinicius Junior had a few different Champions League cards issued by Topps in 2019, but this one, along with its many variations (Sapphire editions), is the more valuable card at the moment.

Topps Chrome Champions League cards are popular among collectors and this is a must-have for Vinicius Junior fans, because it’s his first.

2020/21 Topps UCL Living #132 Vinicius Junior

2020 Topps UCL Living Vinicius Junior

A card from the popular Topps UCL living set. The living set UCL cards only have one print run, and are available for 1 week to order – Vinicius’ card had a surprisingly low print run of just 206.

With the limited supply, it’s worth picking one of these up now – If Vinicius goes on to become a star, the card will be in higher demand, and its value will rise a lot.

Is Vinicius Junior’s Rookie Card A Good Investment?

Vinicius is establishing himself as a top player at such a young age, and an important part of the hugely popular Real Madrid, so there’s definitely hype around him in soccer at the moment.

He’s got potential to be a big star of the future, and his play style makes him even more popular with fans.

His rookie sticker and cards are very much affordable for any level of soccer card collector right now, so I would say adding one or two to a collection would be a good decision – you could argue there are better options at a similar valuation, such as Phil Foden or Mason Greenwood, but I think Vinicius Junior has a big career ahead of him as well.
