Major League Soccer have unveiled MLS Debut Patches, to be worn by every player who makes their debut in the 2024 season, in partnership with Fanatics Collectibles.
The debut patches will be removed from the player’s jersey following their first game, and placed in a special 1-of-1 Topps soccer card.
Debut patches will be worn by players making their debut as early as the first round of fixtures for the 2024 MLS season, which started yesterday (February 21).
The MLS Debut Patch cards for newcomers who played before April 1 will be included in Topps soccer products by the end of the year, and any player who debuts subsequently, will have their patch included in next year’s product.
Sports card collectors might already be familiar with the Debut Patch concept, after Fanatics first introduced them to baseball card collectors, with 1-of-1 MLB Debut Patch cards; Those were released in their 2023 Topps Chrome Baseball Update Series product.
Product details for the MLS Debut Patches are unconfirmed at this stage, but soccer card collectors can look forward to further announcements, and card designs, in the near future.
