Brett Favre is one of the most popular football players to have played the game, therefore his rookie cards are in demand within the football card hobby.

For me, the best Brett Favre rookie card is his 1991 Wild Card Draft Picks 1000 Stripe card, but I think he has some great alternatives as well; I’ve covered the top 10 picks below.

The Best Brett Favre Rookie Cards

Despite the fact his rookie cards were released during the ‘Junk Wax Era’ of sports cards in the 90s, they remain a top option for football card collectors. The overproduction has obviously had an effect on card values, but some do still hold good value.

With quite a lot of official rookie cards to choose from, there is a variety of manufacturers and design options.

10. 1991 Classic Brett Favre #30

1991 Classic Brett Favre RC #30

Another low-budget Brett Favre rookie card option, that’s easy to buy, is this 1991 Classic card.

It’s another one of his cards which has a design that fits the era it was released, with the marble style border, and overall card design.

While it’s not one of the most popular or sought-after Favre rookies, it’s a good option for collectors with a low budget.

Average price of a PSA 10: $25-$35

9. 1991 Upper Deck Brett Favre #13

While the image on the 1991 Upper Deck rookie card is mostly reflective of Brett Favre’s rookie season, sitting on the bench, it’s not the most exciting image for a sports card.

The questionable image choice is potentially what makes it one of the cheaper Favre rookie card options, but this Upper Deck release is one of the most popular Brett Favre rookie cards out there.

Favre does also have another card in the Upper Deck set (#647), as part of the Rookie Force subset.

Average price of a PSA 10: $30-$40

8. 1991 Pacific Brett Favre #551

1991 Pacific Brett Favre #551

Some would say this is the worst looking Brett Favre rookie card design, and I would agree.

The 1991 Pacific card is straight out of the 90s era, with a dated, and questionable card design.

Although it hasn’t necessarily aged well, by today’s football card standards, it still has an almost time capsule like feel to it, so it shouldn’t be completely overlooked as a Brett Favre rookie card option.

The old, dated looking card has appeal to some who want that classic feel in a Brett Favre rookie, so it’s still sought-after for those collectors.

Average price of a PSA 10: $55-$65

7. 1991 Action Packed Rookie Update Brett Favre #21

1991 Action Packed Rookie Update Brett Favre #21

The 1991 Action Packed Brett Favre card is another that is popular among his rookie cards.

While the hobby has changed a lot since, and we’re more accustomed to seeing chromium and foiled cards, at the time of release, in 1991, the gold foil on the card was seen as premium, and it made the card a hit back then.

The image on the card shows Favre in action with the ball, wearing a Falcons jersey.

Average price of a PSA 10: $60-$70

6. 1991 Score Brett Favre #611

1991 Score Brett Favre #611

The 1991 Score Brett Favre rookie card is another with a dated 90s look to it – the text and color scheme give it that old school look.

With a design, and some features, that gives this one the look of a card straight out of the 90s, it has a similar feel to the Pacific Favre rookie, but this one is a little more expensive to buy.

Average price of a PSA 10 (base version): $65-$75

5. 1991 Pro Set Brett Favre #762

Arguably the most popular Brett Favre rookie card, is the 1991 Pro Set card, which is labeled the ‘Official NFL Card’ – written at the top of the card itself.

Although the card design is perhaps a bit dated, the basic and more classic looking card is still popular with collectors.

There is also the Spanish variation, which is essentially the same card, but with Spanish text. I believe it was released in Mexico, as well as parts of South America and Europe; It does also have a different card number to the English version (#262).

Average price of a PSA 10 (base version): $45-$55
Average price of a PSA 10 (Spanish version): $80-$90

4. 1991 Pro Set Platinum Brett Favre #290

1991 Pro Set Platinum Brett Favre #290

The 1991 Pro Set Platinum Brett Favre rookie card is about as basic as they come in terms of design.

Without the small logo in the bottom left, it’s essentially just an image of Brett Favre in action, for the Falcons, in his #4 jersey.

This is the Pro Set Platinum Brett Favre rookie card, but there’s also the Pro Set version of the card, which I mentioned earlier – The Platinum card is an additional collection to the base Pro Set cards.

This Platinum card is one of the more expensive Brett Favre rookie cards to buy.

Average price of a PSA 10: $80-$90

3. 1991 Star Pics Brett Favre Autograph #65

1991 Star Pics Brett Favre Auto #65

The 1991 Star Pics Brett Favre rookie cards holds significance in the fact it’s his first autographed card – It’s one of his most expensive rookie cards, and one of my personal favorites.

It’s worth noting that a high number of the cards have the autograph on the back of the card, for no real reason other than because Favre decided to sign most of them that way.

The card is known to have counterfeits, so it’s worth being extra careful if you’re in the market for this one; Going for one that’s authenticated/graded is the safest option, so I’d recommend doing that, if you can.

Average price of a PSA 10: $400-$500

2. 1991 Topps Stadium Club Brett Favre #94

1991 Topps Stadium Club Brett Favre #94

The 1991 Topps Stadium Club Brett Favre rookie card is one of his most well-known rookies, but perhaps not for all the right reasons; Topps actually misspelled his second name, which you can see says ‘Farve’ on the card.

It’s hard to remember that he was still relatively unknown when the card was released, but the spelling error did actually give it more interest and popularity.

The mistake kind of makes it a more unique Brett Favre rookie card, which is possibly why it’s popular among collectors today.

The base version holds value, but the Super Bowl XXVI parallel, which released at the 1992 NFL Experience event in Minneapolis, is a more premium collectible, which holds more value.

The only difference between the base and the parallel is an embossed Super Bowl XXVI logo in the top right corner.

A PSA 10 graded copy of the Super Bowl XXVI version sold for $6.23k, back in 2021.

Average price of a PSA 10 (base version): $200-$220
Average price of a PSA 10 (Super Bowl XXVI version): $3.5k-$4k

1. 1991 Wild Card Draft Stripes Brett Favre #119

1991 Wild Card Draft Stripes Brett Favre Rookie Card #119
1991 Wild Card Draft Stripes Brett Favre #119

There’s a lot going on in the design of the 1991 Wild Card Draft Stripes Brett Favre rookie card.

The standard base card had a ‘1st Edition’ icon. There are also Stripe parallel cards (like the one pictured above), which include a stripe banner with a specific number, including 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, and 1,000 versions.

Back when it was released, collectors could redeem the Stripe parallel cards for base versions of the player, totalling the amount listed on the card.

The cards hold value, especially the rare 1000 stripe parallel cards, which are rarely seen on the market.

The base version is cheap to buy, but the 1000 stripe version, which is the most valuable, has sold for as much as $10.4k in the past, which makes it the most expensive Favre rookie.

Average price of a PSA 10 (base version): $40-$50
Average price of a PSA 10 (1000 stripe version): $8k-$10k

The 1991 NFL season was Brett Favre’s rookie season – He was selected as the 33rd overall pick in the 1991 NFL Draft, by the Atlanta Falcons. He spent most of his rookie season on the bench as backup.

What Is The Most Valuable Brett Favre Rookie Card?

The 1991 Wild Card Draft Picks 1000 Stripe #119 is the most valuable Brett Favre rookie card; The rarity of it helps make it so valuable compared to Favre’s other rookies.

There have been numerous multiple-thousand dollar previous sales of the card, and back in 2016, a PSA 10 graded copy sold for as high as $10.4k.

What Are Brett Favre Rookie Cards Worth?

Brett Favre’s rookie cards range from $25, for his lowest value rookies, to upwards of $9,000-$10,000, for his most expensive rookies, in the highest grades.

Favre rookies were released during an era in the 90s where overproduction of sports cards was a problem, so the mass-produced cards are less valuable as a result of the high supply.
