A Caitlin Clark autographed card has set a new record in women’s basketball card sales, fetching $84,000 at auction. It’s also the second-highest selling sports card featuring a female athlete of all time.
The 1-of-1 2024 Panini Instant WNBA Draft Blue Viper Caitlin Clark autographed rookie card sold last Thursday, surpassing the previous high of $78,000, set in January by another Clark card – The 1-of-1 2022 Bowman University Superfractor card.
Clark’s 2024 WNBA Draft card was print to order, available only after the April draft, and marked her first card showing her with an Indiana Fever jersey. The big-hitting one-of-a-kind Blue Viper version initially sold for $10,000 in a Dutch auction.
The only women’s sports card to top $84,000 is a 2003 NetPro Serena Williams autographed patch card, which sold for $266,400 in 2022. The card included a piece of Williams’ match-worn outfit.
Clark’s collectibles are experiencing high demand during her remarkable rookie season in the WNBA. Her latest batch of autographed Wilson basketballs sold out in under an hour.
With Panini’s flagship WNBA card set yet to be released, collectors have focused on her college and draft-night cards. The much-anticipated 2024 Panini WNBA Origins set, featuring more of Clark’s rookie cards, is slated for release on October 16.
